M45 · Pleiades

Located in the constellation of Taurus, the Pleiades is a young open star cluster composed of bright blue stars embedded in delicate clouds of interstellar dust. At a distance of approximately 440 light-years, these hot B-type stars illuminate surrounding dust through reflection, creating the soft blue nebulosity that makes this object so distinctive.
